From Skip & Susie in Glennie, Michigan:

We sent four horses to Jeff for a month to put time on them and get them conditioned for trail riding in the summer. All four horses came back fit and with much improved attitudes. Each horse’s specific idiosyncrasies were addressed and handled in a very professional and no-nonsense method. One of Susie’s horses, Jorja, had been used exclusively as a show horse and lesson horse. Open fields and woods were all new to her, and she was not in her comfort zone of arenas and round pens. We specifically wanted her to feel relaxed on trails. After a month with Jeff, she is relaxed on trails, being used as a lead horse, traffic safe, goes through water, and the thick of the woods. Susie was actually going to sell her, but after Jeff’s training, Jorja has become her main trail horse and she is thrilled at her progress. If you have a young colt that needs to be started or a horse that just needs a tune-up, we highly recommend Jeff Thomas.

From Jenny in Alpena, Michigan:

My paint horse, Jellybean, was a handful.  She was raised on our farm and brought up more like a puppy than a horse.  She didn’t respect my personal space and loved to turn her behind to me so she could get a scratch.  She also needed to be started under saddle.  After training I was able to walk, trot, and canter under saddle. Jeff also provided lessons on her for me during his training period.  Jellybean now is a great trail horse that will walk over logs and across water.  She is respectful of my space and she and I have an improved relationship thanks to Jeff!

I would use Jeff as a horse trainer again and would recommend him to anyone.

From Kurt in Cedarville, Michigan:

I had the privilege of meeting Jeff Thomas after he had posted an advertisement for his services on a local bulletin board.  I had a four-year-old horse I was working with but had very little time to finish.  Jeff took the challenge with great confidence.

I found Jeff to be very professional with both client and horse in holding to his contract.  He put the hours needed into the job and got it done.  He did a tremendous job with the ground work and the finishing of my horse.  He kept me informed of the progress regularly and was always available to discuss and issues.  He encouraged client-on-site observation as well.  Jeff exhibits experience beyond his years.

I will certainly consider Jeff for any work needed with my horses and recommend him to anyone considering the “natural horsemanship technique” way of training.

Great Job!

From Theresa in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan:

The best thing about Jeff Thomas is his calm demeanor.  He knows when to stop on a good moment and when to push through stubbornness.  He allows owners to observe and willingly discusses different techniques.  He asks and then tells a horse what is acceptable behavior coaxing out the most willing of responses.  He does not push for a quick fix but gets life long results.  Jeff seems to vary his technique to match both the horse and the owner.
